A table, designed by you and built by me.
Every table starts with your vision. Tell me the wood, the color, the shape and I make it by hand. If you can think it up, I can build it. The finished product is the table you dreamed up, exactly as you pictured.
The Steven
I've watched people walk into a room and go straight for the table before they even sit down. That's what a real piece of wood with a poured color river does to a room, and it's why I enjoy building them.
I choose the slab myself. That decision shapes everything else about the table, so I don't rush it, and I don't hand it off to anyone else either.
I limit how many commissions I take on each year, so every table gets the attention it deserves.
No two slabs behave the same way.
Every slab has its own grain and its own knots, and it takes the epoxy a little differently every time. That's where a table actually gets its personality, straight from the wood it started as.
A handful of tables I've made so far.
Feel free to use these as inspiration for your own table. Borrow a color combination, a wood type, or the overall shape, whatever catches your eye.

Every table, built the same careful way.
I build every table myself, start to finish, in my own shop. Here's what that actually looks like.
Choosing the slab
It starts with a slab, usually walnut, sometimes other hardwoods depending on what you're after. I choose each piece myself for its grain, its live edge, the character already in the wood. No two slabs are the same, so no two tables are either.
Where the river happens
I build a mold around the slab and pour tinted epoxy into the gap, matched to whatever color you've chosen. It needs several days of undisturbed cure time before the next step can even begin. Real cure time is what separates a table that lasts from one that doesn't.
Flatten, sand, finish
Once the epoxy has fully cured, the piece gets flattened, sanded through multiple grits, and hand-finished. This stage is where a table either looks professionally made or doesn't, and I don't rush it.
To your door, by me
I deliver and set up every table personally. Delivery is free within 60 miles of SUNY Albany; outside that radius, a delivery fee applies.
How much say do you get?
This is worth answering up front, since ordering a piece like this is different from ordering something off a shelf. Short version: you set the direction, I execute it using judgment the wood itself demands.
You decide
The wood species, the epoxy color(s), the overall dimensions, and the general style: waterfall edge, straight edge, and so on. These are the choices that make the table yours.
I decide
Which specific slab we use once you've picked a species, and how the grain and river line actually flow through it, which is dictated by the wood itself, not a drawing. The exact path of the river isn't something I can promise to the inch before the wood is in front of me.
In practice: you tell me the vision, I show you real wood and color options before anything is final, and once we agree on direction, I use my judgment to make that specific piece of wood look its best.
What a table costs.
Depending on size and wood. A small side table costs less than a 7-foot dining table in a premium hardwood. Get an exact number by telling me what you have in mind.
Good to know before you reach out.
How long does a table take to build?
About three months from start to delivery. Epoxy needs real cure time at each stage, and that timeline is what makes the difference between a table that lasts and one that doesn't.
How much can I customize?
Wood, color, size, and overall shape are all up to you. I'll walk you through real options for each before anything is final.
Can I pick the exact slab my table is made from?
Yes, if you'd like to. I can send photos of options before committing to one.
Do you deliver outside the Albany area?
Delivery is free within 60 miles of SUNY Albany. Beyond that radius, a delivery fee applies. Ask for a quote based on your location.
Do you build anything besides river tables?
Right now, river tables are the only thing I build. I'd rather do one thing at the highest standard I can than split my attention across a dozen products.
Tell me about your space.
No obligation, just a conversation about what's possible. I respond to every inquiry personally.
